Preference will be given to those candidates who demonstrate a high
level of professional expertise on the basis of having:
--- Master's degree or higher in Horticulture or Urban Agriculture
from an accredited college or university.
--- College teaching in courses specific to Horticulture and/or
--- Experience with in-person lecture (in classroom) and lab (in
greenhouse) as well as Canvas online format.
--- Knowledge of and ability to integrate computer technology in
the classroom and be able to use such technology to offer
curriculum and instruction through distance delivery modes, as
--- Strong background in sustainable horticultural production with
controlled greenhouse environments, specializing organic and
sustainable process and outcome.
--- Knowledge and experience of greenhouse management and
--- Knowledge in plant physiology, plant breeding, plant
identification, and soil, water, and ecosystem stewardship.
--- Strong team player for interdepartmental collaboration.
--- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
--- Strong evidence of scholarly and professional achievements.
--- Familiar with academic curriculum process, being able to
support Department Chair for updating existing programs and
courses, and creating new ones.
--- Expertise in culturally responsive teaching in horticulture
and/or urban agriculture as it relates to its impact on students'
lives and communities; demonstrated ability to address equity gaps
of marginalized groups in the community.

Compensation and Fringe Benefits:
Full-time faculty are paid on the Academic Salary Schedule (see
Wages for salary placement criteria in the Academic Employee Master
Agreement located under Contracts on the District website). The
District offers a comprehensive package of insurance benefits which
includes medical and dental insurance, vision-care plan, life
insurance and dependent life coverage, accidental death and
dismemberment coverage, long-term disability plan, and legal plan.
All premiums are fully paid by the District.
