Job Description Job Description NEEDED: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
LOCATION: 13777 Air Expressway Blvd., Victorville, CA 92394
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday – Friday, as
needed between 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM, for 120 workdays annually.
Total: 960 hours annually QUALIFICATIONS: Must be certified to
practice medicine in the State of California. Must have at least
one or more years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or
Physician Assistant. Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association Basic
Life Support. Possess and submit evidentiary documentation of
graduation from an accredited school. JOB DUTIES: S hall be
responsible for, but is not limited to: Provide direct patient care
services in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional
standards through the evaluation of patients and therapeutic
treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staff. Perform
Advance Practice Practitioner duties within the scope of the
current licensure Administer medications as prescribed i.e., by
mouth, intravenously, intradermally, subcutaneously, or
intramuscularly Assist with distribution of medications at pill
line Monitor and evaluate the response to therapy Perform history
and physicals Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive
health care services for the inmate Take medical histories, examine
patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays Maintain
accurate logs of all reports in accordance with Bureau of Prisons
and JACHO policy Screen laboratory tests/results for
normal/abnormal lad values and notify the physician or physicians
Ensure all sharps are secured, accounted for, stored and disposed
of according to institutional and national policy Maintain patient
privacy and confidentiality Adhere to infection control policies
and procedures Ability and skill to operate EKG Make a diagnosis,
provide treatment plans and prescribe medications Clinically manage
injuries by suturing, splinting, and immobilizing Attend to medical
emergencies Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary
outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and order or carry out
therapy Emergency consultation to be performed in instances where
deemed necessary. Perform minor surgery utilizing local anesthesia
during consultation visits Work collaboratively with the staff
physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning, instituting,
evaluating and revising program plans Assist in determining
conditions, resources and policies essential to delivery of the
health care services Disseminates between normal and abnormal
findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional,
or mental problems Manages the daily operation of the clinic and
conducts daily sick call; which may include securing health
histories from the patient, recording findings and providing
clinical evaluations Provides a wide range of emergency services,
in the absence of the physician Perform duties as required, but
accept only those nursing assignments that are commensurate with
his/her educational preparation, training, experience, and
