District Information Technology Project Manager South Orange County Community College District Initial Screening Date 04/14/2021 Pay Range: 15 - $110,532 to $155,496 (salary placement in the salary range will be based upon comparable experience and qualifications; increases are given annually thereafter up to highest step) The District offers a comprehensive package of insurance benefits to eligible employees, which includes medical and dental insurance, a vision-care plan, life insurance and dependent life coverage, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, and a long-term disability income-protection plan. All premiums are fully paid by the District. Mandatory retirement incentive is with California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS). PLEASE NOTE: In order to be considered for this opening, you must apply through the District website at https://jobs.socccd.edu Summary Description: Under direction from management staff, the District Information Technology Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple district-wide projects and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet stakeholder requirements. Distinguishing Characteristics: Incumbents assigned to this class serve as the primary resource to manage District-wide IT projects. Provides leadership for planning and delivering enterprise technology solutions, through the implementation and use of project management best practices, methodologies and tools. Representative Duties: The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices. Knowledge of: --- Principles of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). --- Agile software development approaches, including Scrum and Kanban. --- Microsoft Office, Project, Visio, and SharePoint. --- Applicable District policies and local, State and federal laws, codes and regulations. --- Computer technology and working within IT departments. --- Principles and processes of procurement and public contracting. Ability to: --- Plan, organize, and coordinate a variety of information technology projects and activities to meet the needs of colleges within the District. --- Effectively communicate project information including providing accurate and timely information exchange between stakeholders, team members, IT management and oversight groups. --- Manage the project team, driving motivation, collaboration and performance. --- Develop milestone schedules for assigned projects from inception to completion. --- Demonstrate effective conflict resolution skills. --- Prepare and maintain a critical path method (CPM) schedule for the project. --- Demonstrate resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building and problem solving skills in a variety of situations. --- Demonstrate record of project management success, both in results achieved and in use of best practices project management methodology. --- Demonstrate ability to lead and motivate staff and to apply skills and techniques to solve dynamic problems. --- Work effectively as a team member with senior level management. --- Demonstrate strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. --- Demonstrate excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills. Education and Experience Guidelines: Any combination of education and experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Education/Training: Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, or any equivalent combination of education or experience. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred. Experience: 5 years of progressively responsible project management experience in a related field, preferably for a public sector client, primarily in Information Technology within a community college or district. License or Certificate: A valid California driver's license. Certification(s): Scrum Master Certification is required. PMP certification is required.
