Job Description:

We are looking for a Mental Health & Wellness Clinician for the Adolescent Mental Health OP Department at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

Location: Mission Viejo, CA with future plans to move the department to Laguna Beach, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days (11:00am-7:30pm)

Job Summary:

Through an evidenced based treatment approach, the clinician uses a recovery model to promote the wellbeing of patients and families served. The clinician completes assessments, implements treatment plans, and evaluates the options and services required to meet the patient needs for positive outcomes. The clinician primarily provides group therapy, individual and family counseling. Additional responsibilities may include psychosocial assessments, treatment planning and discharge planning. The clinician works collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to meet patient treatment goals. The facilitation of patient specific legal and patient rights referral/processes may also be required of the clinician. This position may provide care in any area of the Mental Health & Wellness Clinical Institute to assist patients/families. Will practice in accordance with all regulatory, professional, legal, and hospital policies.

Essential Functions:

* CLINICAL PRACTICE: The clinician is accountable to recognize the mental health and quality of life needs of patients, family, and community and to collaborate with them to achieve mutually agreed upon goals. The clinician utilizes his/her specialized skills and clinical knowledge to design collaborative and integrated care that binds together all resources in a goal oriented and strengths based perspective. Components of clinical practice are competence, evidenced based practice/continuous quality improvement, and practice standards. * Community Assessment (MH & W Clinician and Senior levels - Outpatient Psychiatric only): * Psychosocial Assessment: * Individual Interventions: * Family Interventions: * Group Interventions * Interventions / Treatment Planning: * Discharge Planning: * Intradepartmental referrals: * Implements safe & therapeutic care for patients: * Crisis Intervention:

* COLLABORATION: The process whereby the health care team plan and practice together as colleagues working interdependently within the boundaries of their scope of practices using shared values and mutual respect for each other's contribution to care for individuals, their families and communities. Major elements include non-hierarchical relationships and intra-inter professional collegiality. * Facilitates patient care through effective communication: * Develops & maintains therapeutic & effective relationships with patient/family & the health care team: * Aftercare for patients (i.e. aftercare groups, family groups, alumni groups, etc.): * Demonstrates awareness of unit/ service budget: * Demonstrates awareness of unit & service guidelines related to staffing & scheduling:

Caring practices are activities that are responsive to the uniqueness of the patient/family and that create a compassionate and therapeutic environment. Holistic practice addresses physical, emotional, spiritual, cognitive and developmental needs of patients and families across the life span. Care for the body, mind and spirit - from birth to final stage of life - is a desired characteristic of professional practice. * Professional Practice Model Clinical Ladder: * Performs care management and group therapy functions.

Skills:

* Knowledge and expertise of psychiatric or chemical dependency disorders and treatment modalities. * Strong skills in group process. * Effective interviewing skills. * Strong knowledge of social work practice in behavioral health and or chemical dependency setting. * Knowledge of community resources especially related to those serving behavioral health and or chemical dependency patients. * Knowledge of mental health laws and patient rights. * Excellent interpersonal communication including conflict resolution, advocacy, problem solving and negotiation skills. * Good time management, independent judgment, and organizational skills. * Ability to manage multiple demands effectively and prioritize effectively. * Basic computer skills for hospital information systems. * Requires standing and walking 20 - 25%. * Proficient in required competencies upon completion of orientation as listed on unit specific competencies. * Professional Practice Model Clinical Ladder: Utilizes appropriate technical and decision-making skills.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education: Master's Degree in Social Work or Psychology or Ph.D. in Psychology.

Experience:

* Two (2) years clinical work experience. * Two (2) years Professional Practice Model Clinical Ladder: Competent clinician with experience in providing care in a skilled and effective manner.

Licenses/Certifications:

* LCSW, LMFT, or PsyD/PhD. * Current American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Provider certification. * Crisis Prevention certification within 3 months of hire into the position. * Professional Practice Model Clinical Ladder: * Registered associate or license number with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences. * Registered license number with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences.
