We are looking for an Ultrasound Technologist for the Ultrasound
- MV Department at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.
Location: Mission Viejo, CA
Work Schedule: On call/Per diem
Shift: 8 hour, Days
Performs basic/complex general and limited vascular ultrasound
exams and procedures and provides optimal assessment and diagnostic
exams for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
Demonstrate a high level of technical competence and
productivity using independent judgment to prioritize exam workload
and producing complete and accurate documentation to support an
accurate diagnosis. Display the ability to perform exams that are
age-related, as well as, considerate of the psychosocial needs of
the patient. Recognize the value of teamwork and strive for maximum
team performance. Accurately perform abdominal, OB/GYN, Breast,
Testicular, Thyroid, Soft tissue, Prostate, and Special procedures
Resourcefully solve problems before they become critical using
available resources, independent judgment and maturity, ensuring
optimal patient care and departmental organization. Completes
routine assignments as specified.
Understand computer applications and efficiently completes
computer processing necessary to enter and charge exams, process
lab orders, access reports, and procure data pertinent to exam.
Demonstrates an organized approach to assembling all paperwork,
previous exam data, and all information necessary to assist
Radiologist in an accurate diagnosis.
Proactive participation in motivation and instruction of new
personnel and students to ensure proper orientation to department
policy and procedure.
Maintain required CME unit as required by the American Registry
of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, as well as, continuing to
strengthen and refine professional effectiveness by reviewing cases
and technical journals in an effort to stay informed of new
developments in the field.
- Safe transportation and observation of patients during
ultrasound exam with respect to age and behavioral competency.
Ability to communicate effectively with clarity and diplomacy
with co-workers, patients, patient's families, and physicians.
Capability of handling technically difficult exams and patients,
periodic high volume/high stress workload.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Exhibit appropriate judgment and utilize common sense.
Demonstrate knowledge of age appropriate exam techniques and
transportation, i.e. Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and
Computer processing skills.
Ability to transport ultrasound equipment, lift, and position
patients. Auditory and visual acuity.
Follow organizational and departmental procedures.
Accurately perform Abdominal, OB/GYN, Breast testicular,
Thyroid, Soft tissue, Prostate, and Special procedures. Also
Extracranial Carotid and Venous Lower Extremity exams.
- Proficient in required competencies upon completion of
orientation as listed on the unit specific competency
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- Coursework/Training - Graduate of Diagnostic Medical
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (R.D.M.S.) in Abdomen
- Healthcare Provider level BLS.
Preferred Position Qualifications:
Education: Associate's Degree with certification of completion
of a 2 year college based Ultrasound program.
- Two (2) years of Hospital based experience in ultrasound.
- Two (2) years of Experience in performing carotid and venous
lower extremity ultrasound exams.
